Hersh Chadha

Born to an affluent home in 1957 in India, Prof. Hersh discovered he was happiest when he was by himself, his true companion with only his camera equipment and his thoughts providing sufficient company as he trawled Nature's rich reservoir of experiences, travelling to 83 countries and 226 cities.

Today, recognized for his work on the natural grandeur of the Earth, Prof. Hersh has pledged over 44,799 specimens of his visual art to the WWF. The spiritual relationship has also added to itself a new dimension. Concern for the environment and the documentation of how man ravages it, has moved him onto this frontier. This uncompromising concern now brings attention to issues as varied and important as wildlife preservation, protection for the rain forests, the ozone layer, pollution of our waters and air.

Prof. Hersh has authored "Elements, I, II & III", a collection of photographic books that capture nature in its varied moods. He has donated the proceeds from the sale of the Elements series to the WWF. "Elements" can today be found in the prestigious libraries of Harvard and Stanford. Incidentally, some of his works can also be found on the walls of these hallowed halls of learning and in the possession of eminent personalities including several members of the royalty. Prof. Hersh has recently published his book of photographs - Hersh Chadha : Visions of Nature. He has also been awarded the Associateship from the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS), which is a specialized Distinction, awarded for a high degree of proficiency and the demonstration of a high technical and visual competence in the field of photography.
